Bloomingdale Community Co-op Launches New Website and Announces September 19 Open House

BLOOMINGDALE, Mich. - September 13, 2026 - Bloomingdale Community Co-op has launched BloomingdaleCoop.com, a new online home for the developing community-owned grocery, and will welcome the public to an open house on Saturday, September 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the historic Cardinal Club building in downtown Bloomingdale.
The open house will give residents a first look inside the future co-op space and an opportunity to learn how the project is moving from community planning toward a targeted spring 2027 retail opening. Visitors will be able to meet members of the co-op team, view early concepts for the store, ask questions and share ideas about the products and services they want to see available locally.
Held during Bloomingdale's Oktoberfest weekend, the event will also feature a vendor fair with farmers, food producers, makers and other small businesses that could become future co-op suppliers. The vendor fair is intended to introduce local producers directly to the community while beginning the relationships needed to build a practical, locally rooted supply network.
Visitors will also be able to preview the Bloomingdale Box, a curated selection of products from local and regional producers. Pre-orders will be accepted during the open house and through BloomingdaleCoop.com, with proceeds supporting the co-op’s startup and opening preparations. This gives residents a practical way to support the co-op while discovering products that may eventually be carried in the store.
The planned co-op will occupy the main floor of the Cardinal Club building. The compact neighborhood grocery is being designed around everyday food access, with fresh produce, dairy, meat, bread, dry and bulk goods, household staples and products from area growers and producers. A community-owned model will allow residents to help shape the store while keeping its mission centered on service, local economic participation and long-term community benefit.
The new website will serve as the central place to follow project updates, learn about the co-op's purpose, connect as a prospective vendor or supporter and find future opportunities to participate. The site will continue to grow as the board advances store planning, financing, membership development and preparations for opening.
